Written with Dr. Rita Patel and Dr. Steven Lulich, this paper is a biproduct of Paulina’s Doctoral Research at Indiana University on the trillo, vocal production, and ornamentation in early modern Europe.

The Virtuosi of Ferrara: The Concerto delle Donne 1580-1601

The purpose of this thesis is to explore the history of the Ferrarese ensemble the Concerto delle Donne, as it relates to Luzzascho Luzzaschi's 1601 print 'Madrigali per cantare et sonare a uno, e doi, e tre soprani'. In addition to a historical account of the ensemble, this document also contains a modern edition of Luzzaschi’s 1601 print.
