Paulina is a co-author of the article “Laryngeal, Respiratory, and Acoustic Characteristics of Vocal Trillo With Simultaneous High-Speed Videoendoscopy, Inductive Plethysmography, and Acoustic Recordings,” published in November 2023 by the Journal of Voice. Written with Dr. Rita Patel and Dr. Steven Lulich, this paper is a biproduct of Paulina’s Doctoral Research at Indiana University on the trillo, vocal production, and ornamentation in early modern Europe.
The Seventeenth Century Trillo: Historical Practice for the 21st Century Singer
The purpose of this project is to investigate the development, documentation, and production of the trillo at the turn of the seventeenth century, and to assess how knowledge of these components can lead to a more comprehensive understanding of the unique aesthetic of music in seventeenth-century Italy.
The Virtuosi of Ferrara: The Concerto delle Donne 1580-1601
The purpose of this thesis is to explore the history of the Ferrarese ensemble the Concerto delle Donne, as it relates to Luzzascho Luzzaschi's 1601 print 'Madrigali per cantare et sonare a uno, e doi, e tre soprani'. In addition to a historical account of the ensemble, this document also contains a modern edition of Luzzaschi’s 1601 print.
